Appearance: Kurogane is tall, dark, and scary as hell. If you're on his bad side, that is. Kurogane is very tall and quite intimidating. It's not uncommon for enemies to back down from his appearance alone. He has short, black spiky hair and sharp red eyes. He has tan skin and broad shoulders. There is a scar on his left hand that looked like something stabbed through his hand. He is always wearing black. Perhaps white, but only if it was supposed to be under a black coat.

Personality: He is very serious and more often than not, solitary. He doesn't get along well with people. He does have manners, but he doesn't always use them. Not to say that he's actually rude. He just doesn't do anything to be polite. He doesn't say things that are totally pointless in saying and he doesn't lie unless there is a safety reason to do so. He is also very observant of both emotions and the body. He can usually judge how good a fighter someone is by how they move and he can usually always spot a liar. Despite his brutish appearance, he is smart. Not scholar smart, but still smart.
Despite his distant exterior, he does have a rather violent temper. Kurogane has no problems with killing anyone who gets in his way, at least before the curse, and is more than willing to hurt someone who pisses him off or just annoys him. He also has a surprising amount of disrespect for authority in general. He knows when he has to show some, again for safety reasons, but otherwise, he'll do as he pleases. He is very loyal though and is very protective of those he cares about. Nothing will keep him from his goal.

Abilities/Strengths: Kurogane is very fast, very strong, very agile, and need be, very quiet. He is one of the top ninjas of Nihon and for good reason. When he has a sword, he seems almost unbeatable. His sword is more likely to break before he falls. However, even without one, he is still fierce. He can even punch a hole in solid concrete. He's got good reflexes, reacting to attacks before he even sees them and can even sense living things around him to allow him to defend before they know he's aware.

His skills with the sword have allowed him to essentially use his chi in attacks to made the simple swipe of the sword an attack that could even follow it's pray. Of course, this takes a strong blade so as to not break.

He has extended life because of his 'contract' to be Fai's bait.

The curse placed on him by Tomoyo also has a protective side. It is able to decrease the damage of mortal wounds to something more bearable.

Weapons: Kurogane's weapon is the long sword, Souhi. It is a magic blade that allows him to channel his chi through best to do his techniques, such as 'Hama Ryu-O-Jin,' and not shatter the blade.

Weaknesses: When it comes to illusions and resisting magic spells, Kurogane has no real defense. If it's a force of will, he has a chance, and if it's an attack, his sword may counteract them, but otherwise, he will always fall under them by himself.

There is also the fact he doesn't get along with people. He's often considered a dangerous character and it's very hard for him to disguise himself.

Currently, Kurogane is acting as bait. As such, he will always have to stay around his Fai and won't risk separation for more than a day. If this occurs, however, he gets quite angry and maybe violent.

Kurogane suffers from a curse. Anytime he kills someone, his strength decreases.

He can't drink milk.

History: Kurogane was the heir of the province of Suwa. His father was the warlord and his mother was a powerful miko who protected their land from oni with a powerful barrier. His father would take care of any oni that got through. Kurogane was taught by his father at a young age the way of the sword. Kurogane was quite happy with his life except for one thing. His mother was sick and there was no medicine to cure here. Putting up a barrier strained her body and it caused worry in Kurogane.

Still, Kurogane had a happy childhood until the day came. The day came Kurogane's father had to the need to take Ginryuu to defeat the oni that managed to get in. Kurogane had wanted to go, but his father insisted he stay to protect his mother. So Kurogane did that. He tried to keep his mother was making a barrier, but she would not be stopped. She wanted to keep the rest of the oni away while his father fought. However, this made her a target.

Kurogane heard his mother in danger, but was too late as a man ran her through with a sword through a portal. And that's when things went to hell in a hand basket.

With the death of his mother, the barrier was gone and oni swarmed over Suwa. As Kurogane tried to get his mother to stop bleeding, the oni came to his home. The leading oni held his father's arm and sword in his mouth. The oni ate the arm, the sword falling to the ground. It was then Kurogane snapped and only saw red as he grabbed the sword and attacked.

His next clear memory was of Tomoyo. She had sent a spell to stab a spear of energy through his hand to keep him from attacking, his other arm holding his mother. 'Let's let your mother rest, shall we?' Once Kurogane heard Tomoyo say that, he let himself break down and cry.

The next thing he knew, he was in the palace where he learned Tomoyo's name and he told her his. After that, Kurogane joined the palace's ninja squad and for years served under Tomoyo loyally. Unfortunately, he got too zealous about that killing.

Which resulted in Tomoyo sending him away with a curse that will decrease his strength everytime he kills. After that, he arrived at the Space Time Witch's home and, with the price of his sword Ginryuu, a remake of his father's that he had buried with his mother, was sent on a journey home with Sakura, Syaoran, Fai, and Mokona. At first Kurogane had no desire to get involved with Syaoran's quest. However, that quickly fell apart. The quickest way to move to a new world was to get the feather fast. That was his reasoning at first, but then he actually started to care about his traveling companions.

For a while, Kurogane was without a sword until Outo. There he gained Souhi. He also started to teach Syaoran how to use a blade. It was lucky timing leaving that he kept the blade.

In the world of Shara, Kurogane was separated along with Fai from the kids and Mokona. When they moved to another world, he and Fai were sent six months before the kids in Yama. So for six months he fought along side Yasha's army with a Fai he couldn't understand until they were reunited with the kids.

In Piffle world, Kurogane had found out about Princess Tomoyo keeping an eye on them. He was still annoyed with her about the curse, but when they left that world, he told Piffle's Tomoyo to tell Princess Tomoyo he would come back home. He also showed earlier that he was very concerned about Tomoyo's well being, in his own way.

In the world after Piffle, a world with a giant library, Syaoran had found a book where it registered Kurogane's past. Syaoran is the only one in the group at the moment who knows his past. Of course, he's not hiding it. No one ever asks is all. It was also when Kurogane found out whoever killed his mother was probably the same person who was always watching them.

Tokyo was by far the most challenging of the worlds. The first people they met attacked. Kurogane had fought the vampire Kamui. He was actually quite glad to have the challenge, proving his own skills by a possibly fatal attack had it continued. However, that was not all.

It was then the truth of Syaoran was revealed. That Syaoran was a clone of the real Syaoran and had now lost his 'heart' the original put in him. He became driven to only find feathers and ate Syaoran's eye. Kurogane had fought the clone and was surprised by his strength. The confusion only increased as another Syaoran appeared wearing the symbol of the man who killed his mother.

The end result was the clone leaving, Sakura depressed and asleep again, the water reservoir for Tokyo empty, the new, real Syaoran joining their group, and Fai about to die. It was only a deal with Yuuko and the vampires that saved Fai's life. Fai became a vampire and Kurogane became his 'bait' or 'prey' and is the only one Fai can feed from.

It was also then that Fai started calling Kurogane by just his name versus his usual annoying nickname. A sign that Fai was angry with him for saving his life. There is a rift between them now, even in the world of Infinity.

However, Kurogane makes sure Fai feeds regularly.

Which is why he's really pissed he got pulled to Econtra.
